Most of m'sian football fans love the epl but please don't put aside the malaysian team cos they need full fans support...we cannot put the blame on FAM and the coaches 100%...fans support is very important in sports and we must give the same support to the various state teams and the national team as well. I really pity the younger generations becoz they miss the good old days when malaysia were a soccer power in Asia beating the likes of Japan,S.Korea and the middle east teams regularly but now we can't even beat the Asean teams like Vietnam, S'pore etc. But don't lose hope that one day the good old days will be back provided the fans give total support to our football.FAM is making a big mistake in retaining Sathia as coach...why not try Azraai Kor from Kedah, maybe he can change the scenario cos he is young and energetic and he has good man-management and the players will love him...and if there is understanding/love between coaches and players, the team will be able to perform without fear and pressure.

" Too much money..." said Mostahkeen Omar, once Kedah football coach.
Rashid Hassan, ex-national team goalkeeper said recently " In the past, players ask themselves about what they can do for the country. Players nowadays ask what the country can do for them."
I agree. Can't help it but to agree. Not out of hatred but from my* personal view* and sharing few footballers friends experiences....that is :- when you get salary as handsomely as around AT LEAST 3.5k PER MONTH (still not include allowance), SPONSORSHIP, CARS, GIRLS (applicable for some only though..), DISCO (remember the disco five who broke the curfew and caught while preparing for national team..?), when everything is quite comfortable...then whats more can motivate you to play whole-heartedly for your country?... not to accusing all them less patriotic...some does played with ethusiasm but overall, the spirit is fragile and psychologically, this has weakened the team...the result? there is no more fear from team like eg. Myanmar, Vietnam to face us, not anymore...
Even if we hire good coaches like Wenger or Sir Alex, there is no guarantee for success if our players are still with the same mentality... remember Claude Le Roy? He steered some other countries teams to some finals and etc but he failed at the very early stage with Malaysia and eventually sacked...good local coaches who is said to understand local players more than foreign coach, like Abd Rahman Ibrahim who came to national team with several success under his belt, and Wan Jamak Wan Hassan also given the boot...
Players mentality is also a factor, lack of mental strength as a result from the psychological damage. While playing abroad will, in some way, help to instill a sense of national pride, some local players let go the opportunity to inspire the upcoming generation to follow their lead by reluctant to ply their trade overseas when there is a chance. There was an ex-national player openly admitted in an interview that he has no intention to try his luck outside Malaysia saying he had almost everything here, friends, etc... , . Also there was a certain player, promising youngster who been sent for a stint with SV Wehen, Germany and after about 2 months opt to back to Malaysia, cited missed his family back home and wants to play for Pahang...(where everything is provided, home sweet home)...a bunch of players sent to Bournemouth FC for a trial and not even one succeed while they are regarded among the best in the country?... Some has prevailed though, for example Titus James (Le Havre), S. Karthigesan, played for Basel FC...(a Champions League team nowadays..hmm..), Lim Tiong Kim who now is Bayern Munich youth team coach...Akmal Rizal (Racing Strasbourg FC - FC Haguenau) before injury shortened his adventure...
FAM..? Management..? what about Mohd Asrarudin Putra who is been said to have talent scout from PSV Eindhoven impressed during CYC..?? no follow-up on the matter and finally any possible opportunity wasted...those are the chances to uphold our country name and will lift up the sense of pride of represent Malaysia.
While there are some flaws in FAM, maybe there are still some ideas need to be explored rather than to blame each other...
Well, damage done...and whats left now is a team that try to atone the past "sin"...they indeed seems to try to play for the national glory, there are some hunger shown, but the "healing crisis" from the past sins are still there to be felt...so lets hope for the "spirit" and the glory to be restored, and Malaysia as SEA "king" to be reinstated...
Enough (sigh) ..."saya budak baru belajar...kalau salah tolong tunjukkan.."

Thank's cinder for your comments on our m'sian soccer...I agree with you that there are no follow up on the young players...remember the Tiger squad in the early 80's,Barcelona babes in the early 90's,the 2001 sea games squad which won the silver medal with Akmal,Jusaili,Kamaruzaman,Nizamuddin plus many more potential players, but they were disbanded for no reason.
FAM only wants instant result and thats the reason they keep on changing the squad everynow and then...FAM must learn froM the Kedah FA who 3/4 years ago were only a minnow team playing in the 2nd tier of the m'sian league, but they believed in their youngters and this same squad of players achieved what other teams fail to do,that is winning 3 major titles twice in succession.
Last year we won the Merdeka cup with only the u/23 squad except 2 seniors Shukor n Normisbah but for this year tournament FAM select about 8/9 senior players and they end up runnerup and fail to reach the AFF cup semis...I guess FAM never learn.
COME SPURS FANS OUT THERE,GIVE YOUR COMMENTS ON THE m'SIAN SOCCER TEAM...LOVE THEM BUT DON'T HATE THEM. majulah sukan bolasepak untuk negara.

Starting from mid' 90's ..it all turn cloudy grey in National Football.. I don't even see people play football for fun nowdays. I only see tournament 7sided,9sided back here in Butterworth n Kulim... And after the tournament, there's no more football on the field...Kids not playing ball anymore in the playground. A lot of wankers riding bikes so damn brave to die.. And the stadium is empty.... Even in the Final of FA or Malaysia or Super Cup, the stadium is not even half full.. Is only 10-20% spectators in the stadium...for Final!!?! Even the final game is on weekend..but still less spectators... What if the Final game is on Monday?!...I don't think there is spectators!! Our local recently not supportive...
Everyone know well of Super Mokh....but i still salute the late Spiderman ...\m/

As I've said earlier,FAM is making a mistake in retaining Sathia as coach becoz he is not that good...he dropped Titus from his 2007 sea games squad stating that Titus did not impressed him during the trial...a coach must not judged a player on the trials only...there are many other things to look for...maybe Titus was tired after a long flight home and also the league games he played for his club in France..doesn't Sathia did his homework on Titus.

Akmal Rizal is still our best striker at the moment if he is 100% fit...Sathia should recall him if he is ready and together with Safee or Adha Zakuan, they will do damage to the UAE and Uzberkistan in the coming Asia cup qualifiers...and don't forget to call up Titus and retain only a few seniors like Shukor and Norhafiz Misbah....Azaharudin (trials with PSV) and Bunyamin Omar/Bakhtiar (trial with Chelsea) should also be call up...go Tiger go!!!

Being a Selangor fan for the past 20 years... I have seen the best of Akmal but unfortunately, I have seen the worst of him.. right now, with his nagging knee injury, he looks like Ronaldo of Brazil.. gone were the days where he could surge and dribble past opponents...
Our football suffered greatly from the great 1994 bribery scandals... gone banned are Azizol Abu Hanifa, Malek Rahman, Matlan Marjan, Sallehudin Che Rose and others who were the best in the nation and were the current generation of football players at that time... when they were banned, the backup were not ready to shoulder the burden...and thus we lost a generation of footballers.. we were left with the new kids like Assrof Hanafiah, Sanbagamaran and Rudi Suparman and also the old players like Zainal Abidin, Dollah Salleh and company... it affected the national team and other states suffered and thus Selangor were kings because other states were suffering...
From 1994, we had no real talents apart from Azman Adnan to replace the current generation. Since then, we have been from bad to worse. To make it worse, we have players who only have short hunger for success.. players who won the Malaysia Cup lost their hunger to win it again.. not to mention the failures of the state team to pay the promised bonus when they won the Malaysia Cup.. some states even encourage their players not to give their best for the national team as the Malaysia Cup is just round the corner...
We had players who lost their hunger when they are successful, players who will not push themselves in training for the national team, players who do not have pride when playing for Malaysia, players who have serious inferiority complex when playing against strong Asian football nation and also players who lost their zest to the glamour world. We had great talent in Amri Borhan, I saw him play his best a lot of times and he is really good... but he was swayed to the dark side and began to frequent the "kalabul malami" and threw away his promising career down the drain... He was in fact better than Akmal Rizal...
That is the problem with our national team and with the wrong people at helm in the FAM and with FAM making inconsistent decisions and changes to our league... we will be in the footballing drain for years to come..in fact, we had a lot of similarities with Spurs..A wholesale changes is needed from the states association to the very top of FAM is needed to improve our beloved national team

Yes amri borhan was a very talented and gifted player but attitude and lack of commitment... you cannot compare him and akmal becoz the later played as a striker while amri is a midfielder...both are good and talented but akmal is more discipline.

I have seen Azrul Amri Borhan played football ever since he was a 16 year old playing with the KL under 15 and later under 18 team. He was in fact well known when he was only 16 years old. Watching him play live is like watching Mokhtar Dahari..(though I have seen Mokhtar played live only when he was over 30 years old).. Azrul Amri striked fear in opponents ever since he was only 16 years old.. he played for K.L when he was 18 and made his international debut when he was 18 against the old Brazillian stars which he scored... then he played for the pre-Olympic team in the Tournoi De France in 1995.. where he impresses everyone including the Brazillian and England youth team coaches.. there were in fact offers for him from various teams from England and France but then against England after nutmegging and I repeat.. nutmegging David Beckham.. he was tackled by Gary Neville which popped his knee...
He later wanted to played for Selangor after that but KL blocked the transfer with a RM 1 million price tag.. Selangor waived and after recovering from the knee problem... he did a Berbatov (playing halfheartedly for his current team as he was sulking) and down the drain his career goes..
su1409 is right... Akmal id more disciplined than Azrul Amri Borhan but talent wise I rated him better than Akmal as he did not received foreign training stint like Akmal... Azrul only went for a short oversea training stint courtesy of KLFA not FAM... Akmal was sent for a 2 year training stint in France by FAM... to have the skills of Azrul Amri when you only train in Malaysia is godsend but he wasted it...
Right now we have the Zaquan twins and Safee Sali as the next gen of players... Even not reaching 23 years old yet one of the twins already made the headlines for the wrong reasons... Titus James is being reduced to playing second stringers in France and we have yet to reap the dividends from him...

Yes the 2 zakuan twins and safee are talented but they must play abroad to widen their skills becoz there's nothing to prove in the super league...you doesn't have to look far....they can either ply their trade in singapore or indonesia or even vietnam and when they gain experience they can move to the Australian league or maybe the english 3rd tier or if they're lucky the english championship, that's how far they can go...I'm not underestimate them but it's fact.

Guys...I have an idea to put on the table...it may not be perfect, but just trying to voice out this rough plan...and may some better idea from you guys will come out later...pls give comment, but don't give a bash... jangan hentam laa...(mental tak cukup kuat...hehe...)
I suggest :-
FAM take full control of professional players salary and impose a new rule called "SALARY CAP". The salary cap will have 3 CATEGORIES:-
Here is the example:-
(Type A) 1. Player who hasn`t represent country Salary eg: RM 2,000.00 per month
(Type B) 2. Player who has represent country in at least 3 games against 2nd class opponent and win all 3 games Salary eg: RM 3,000.00 per month
3. ( Type C ) Player who represent country in at least 6 games against 1st class opponent and win 6 games Salary eg: RM 4,000.00 per month
Type C player also entitled to receive pension from FAM.
The idea above is a just basic plan only. Maybe this will sound more about money in the beginning, but let them players have the taste of winning games and then perhaps the perception will change and perhaps gradually the feeling of pride and glory will seeps back...
Of course this idea is just an idea and need alteration here and there and you guys are welcomed to give your view, comment and share things. It may easier said than done...but then again, Rome is not build in a day, right?
Am I being too optimistic..?
