Sebastien Bassong headed the winning goal on his Tottenham debut this afternoon as he helped his new club to a superb 2-1 Premier League victory over Liverpool.
Benoit Assou-Ekotto's stunner had given Spurs a half-time lead, before Steven Gerrard equalised from the penalty spot on 56 minutes.
But Bassong had the last word, rising highest in the penalty area to nod home a Luka Modric cross and given the White Hart Lane club an ideal start to the season.

wow!we beat liverpool in the opening game with goals from our cameroon connection...lets hope that this is the start for better things to come and we played without woody, jenas and crouchy, pavy and knaughton on the bench...we have a big squad with good players plus we don't have any european games midweek...so we should push ourselves to the limit and aim for a top 4 finnish and not just happy with a top 6 placing

Very impressive the way our players pressed, going for every ball. Completely shutout Torres. Even Gerrard & Mascherano seemed lost thanks to Huddlestone & Palacios.
I also enjoyed seeing Crouch & Pavy celebrating from the beanch when BAE scored. Also Keane's reactions when Gomes gave away the penalty. That's passion! ;D

I give special mention to Ledley King for shutting out Torres.. Those of us who have played football know how hard it is to play with an injury. A fully fit King would be one of the best defenders in the BPL.. no wonder Capello wanted gave him a call up. Torres was one frustrated guy.. hahaha..
On the flipside.. I wish Keano was sharper.. Modric was giving excellent service but Keano couldn't capitalise..

If we can command a game like that away from home (which is always our Achilles heel) we'll start giving some of the so-called "Big 4 + Man City" a run for their money.
