well..this is a democratic country..everyone has their own opinions...Capello also has his own opinion in saying that Hudd will be a great international player in future...if not with spurs, hopefully with wolves (hudd was loan to wolves for sometimes)...cos I luv gifted players ...and I want to see they play either for spurs or wolves...ha!ha!ha!...itu dua-dua saya punya beloved club.

Sorry STG,I don't agree with you...Hudd is not a tough tackling midfield dynamo like B.Robson, R.Keane,P.Viera,M.Essien etc....he used his head rather than his body...and STG,most midfield greats like Zidane,Hoddle,Platini,Ronaldhinho and even the late George Best (my favourite player of all times) are slow, lazy and has poor defensive qualities just like our Hudd...
Nobody here is saying that Hudd is a defensive midfielder. If anything, he can't tackle or read the defensive part of the game at all. Still, as a midfield player, he is required to track back, tackle, close down and hussle the opposition. Hudd DOES NOT do this well. Against the likes of West Ham and Newcastle, we were lucky to get away with it but Man U will punish us. The way our system works, everyone in the midfield is required to graft and win back the ball. Or at the very least stop the opposition from getting the ball into our box. With Jenas and Palacios, we tend to win more balls in midfield.
You must remember that when we had Hoddle, we almost always played 4-5-1. When Zidane played, he had Makelele and then Beckham to hold and win the ball back. Ronaldinho played wide left for Barca. Best played wide right and wide left for Man U. Platini never played in England, we would have been ripped to shreds if he did. In any case, pace, stamina, mobility and hard running are essential elements to succeed in any midfield in the EPL. Think Essien, Lampard, Gerrard, Fabregas, Mascherano, etc.
And Hudd must be given runs of games to established himself at spurs but under JR and HR he is always sideline ,mostly as subs...what happened to Hudd happen to Hoddle in the England team in the 80's...Hoddle only played 49 times for England (correct me if I'm wrong)...
Hudd HAS been given games to establish himself. He just hasn't done well in most of them. Looking at the stats: 08-09: Starts 12, Sub Apps 7, Goals 0, Assists 0 07-08: Starts 18, Sub Apps 10, Goals 3, Assists 7 06-07: Starts 15, Sub Apps 6, Goals 1, Assists 2 05-06: Starts 0, Sub Apps 4, Goals 0, Assists 1 05-06: Starts 12, Sub Apps 1, Goals 1, Assists 0 (for Wolves)
Ironically, Hudd started the most under JR and MJ but even then, he wasn't good enough to make the position his own. But under JR he at least lost a few pounds and started to run and hussle the opposition more. Now, he seems to be back to his slow, immobile self. Hudd has talent for sure, but he needs to be loaned out somewhere first or given a kick up the arse and told to lose weight again for him to be even considered an established starter.
and the great Platini once said that if Hoddle played for France he would have got more than 100 caps...is hard for a gifted player like Hudd to survive in England...70's players like Alan Hudson and Rodney Marsh were very gifted but only played for England a few times...only in the 90's the system change in the English games where gifted playmakers are much appreciated but there are still a few British managers who loves the long balls and thus ignored the gifted players...I hope you understand what Iam saying to clear the pictures.
Hoddle only got 53 caps for England because he rarely ever had a good game for them. Sorry to say but it is the truth. For all his talent, he never translated his form and undoubted talent on the international stage. He had started all the games in Mexico 86 and he only played well against Paraguay. He was dreadful against both Portugal (which England lost) and Morocco (which England drew). Against Argentina, Maradona ran past him so many times as if he weren't there. It was only after he was taken off did England start to play well.
Alan Hudson and Rodney Marsh were similar in that they too were not good enough for International football. It's a myth that gifted players never get picked for England. They are always one of the first names on the squad list but 99% of them never translate their form and talent on the bigger stage.

There is no need to calm down because there is no argument going on. Everyone is merely stating their own point of view. At the end of the day, HR is the one that picks the team and given the upturn in form over the last 10 games, it seems that HR will always pick Palacios and Jenas in the middle unless one of the them is unavailable. Then, against top 4 teams, he will pick Zokora ahead of Huddlestone but the latter will play against the weaker sides.

Thanks anyway STG...your views are well appreciated...but let us see who will play vs manu this weekend as central pairs...will it be palacious/jenas or palacious/hudd or placious/zokora...I've this feeling that HR will play P/H...but if I'm wrong, well live goes on as usual...anyway STG you're a good opposition..I like that cos I luv friendly arguments..ha!ha!ha!

Let me guess STG...you were born in the early or mid sixtees becoz you know well players like Best,Hudson and Marsh...this famous guys played in the 60's/70s...but Best is not like the not so good Beckham..he can play everywhere, left, right, centre plus behind the strikers (Law/Charlton)...Beckham well,he is an average player and was made famous becoz of Posh spice...sorry guys who luv Becks...but our own Azizul Abu Haniffah (perak n m'sia midfield genious in the 80's n early 90's) is better in terms of footballing skills and I'm not joking...this is serious talk.

Hi Su, was born in the 70s actually. I use to live in London for a good few years and my uncle is a huge Chelsea fan and he reckoned Alan Hudson was the business even though he was playing for Arsenal at the time. And of course, he hated Rodhey Marsh coz he was Fulham through and through. My uncle is a typical English gentleman though, he brought me and my brother to White Hart Lane back in the day. I even went to see a match at Stamford Bridge. Back then, it had only two stands, the Matthew Harding stand now was a dirt patch used to park cars. Chelsea were crap then. It was all about Tottenham in London. Shame how things have changed

Actually, my maternal grandmother is half white hence the links with England. Otherwise, I'm mainly Chinese. My uncle sent me an email yesterday about how we were robbed in the Man U game. He added a bit of a wind up as well but I told him we're unbeaten against Chelski in 4 games.

Thanks for this important info...now I understand..yes it was day light robbbery but this is not the first but so many times...remember when Mendes goal was disallowed after the ball has crossed the goal line and the world saw that manu keeper Carroll catched the ball inside the goal...it's not jinx but is a conspiracy becoz manu is a very, very rich club and they can buy people especially referees and linesmen....a 4th official is a must in modern day football.

If Hudd is not in Arry's plans...is better that Hudd finds another club to fullfil his ambition.. and the club must be wolves becoz he had played for them before on loan...yes!wolves is my 2nd team...and with Hudd around, wolves can stay up in the premier league...maybe he cannot survive at spurs cos of so many flair players like modric, lennon, jenas, taraabb and santos but wolves only have knightly and jarvis as their skillful players but both of them played at the flanks unlike hudd who played as central midfielder.
