Tottenham Hotspur have sent their Mexican forward Giovani Dos Santos to Championship side Ipswich Town on loan. The Mexican has struggled with his fitness since his summer move to north London from Barcelona, and had come close to a January loan move to Portsmouth, before reported confusion over the time of a medical scuppered the deal.
Now, Setanta Sports News and Sky Sports News are reporting that the talented player, who scored his first goal for Spurs in their recent UEFA Cup defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk, will be plying his trade in Suffolk for the rest of the season.
He could go straight in to the Tractor Boys' squad for their tough trip to the Madejski Stadium against Championship high-flyers Reading, and Town manager Jim Magilton will be hopeful that the 19-year-old can provide the quality that can help boost the East Anglian outfit to promotion.
Ipswich currently sit tenth in what is, as ever, a fiercely competitive Championship table, with 51 points, seven behind cup heroes Burnley, who currently occupy the sixth and final play-off place.
Spurs' young Welsh international full-back, Chris Gunter, was also despatched to the Championship this week, Tottenham's official website confirmed, joining Nottingham Forest on loan for the rest of the season, where he will face a battle against relegation rather than a push for promotion.
