The Last in LIne?!!...or No more Option?!
Forlan The Man For Spurs?
Tottenham are reportedly set to make a shock move for Diego Forlan as they look for a replacement for Robbie Keane.
According to the Lancashire Evening Post Spurs will offer Atletico Madrid £18 million for Forlan as they look to bolster their attack.
Forlan has previously had a spell in the Premier League at Manchester United. He spent two, largely disappointing seasons, at Old Trafford before moving to Spain in 2004.
The Uruguayan striker has found the goals easier to come by in La Liga, becoming the ‘pichichi’ in his first season at Villareal before moving on to current side Atletico Madrid, where he has struck up a good understanding with fellow striker Sergio Aguerro.
Tottenham, meanwhile, look to be in the market for a striker having lost Robbie Keane recently to Liverpool and with fellow striker Dimitar Berbatov linked with a move away from the club, and possibly to Manchester United.
The Keane-Berbatov partnership struck 30 Premier League goals for the club last season and although Darren Bent has looked good in pre-season, Juande Ramos may feel that he needs a striker to ensure the goals continue to flow. Luka Modric, Giovani Dos Santos and David Bentley have all joined the club this summer but further investment may still be necessary.
Whilst Forlan may well be one option, Tottenham have also been linked with moves for the Russian duo Andrei Arshavin and Roman Pavlychenko, although it us unclear whether either player will move to White Hart Lane.
Recent reports have also suggested that Spurs may be willing to make a bid for West Ham’s Dean Ashton, as their hunt for a striker intensifies.
