Got to give that guy credit though. He's done some really great business for the Saints. Apart from Leeds, I dun think any EPL club past or present has made so much money from player sales. And Leeds had the advantage of getting over 30 million pounds for Rio Ferdinand.

Leeds did get tons of money in.
But think they made a net loss on players transactions, Rio was the only one that they actually made money (and the last big money transaction before the market crashed). Others like Seth Johnson (bought for £7m, sold for £-), Michael Duberry (bought for £4.5m, sold for £-), Oliver Dacourt (bought for £7.2m, sold for £3.5m), Robbie Keane (bought for £12m, sold for £7m), Lee Bowyer (bought for £2.7m, sold for £0.1m), Robbie Fowler (bought for £11m, sold for £6m) etc all lost big money.
If not for their extremely productive youth set-up, there would have been no way back for them. Players like Woodgate, Smith, Robinson, Milner etc literally saved the club from total oblivion.

Think Wupert gets a fair bit of stick, but those stats speak for themself. The guy knows how to get the most out of the transfer market.
Just should have realised what a disaster Bent 'Arry was going to be.

To be fair, looks like Redcr@p will get pompey relegated also. Plus, he's already burned a big hole in their finances also.

www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/apr/03/southampton-holding-company-administrationThe administrators running the holding company that owns Southampton FC today admitted they are in "serious jeopardy" and have six weeks to find a buyer if the club is to survive. Southampton Leisure Holdings was placed into administration this morning as the chairman, Rupert Lowe, resigned from the board and the Football League prepared to rule on whether the club should face a points deduction as a result. A bitter legal battle looks set to follow, with rival clubs calling on the League to ensure a deduction is applied.
